Hi, I’m Elizabeth!

I’m a 30-something Christian trying to get back to a simpler way of life through gardening, homesteading, and crafting. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but I settled in rural central PA. Now we live on our 1-acre plot of land and are working to live out 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12:

And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

My husband and I manage a zoo of cats, dogs, chickens, and horses. We grow and preserve as much food as we can each year in our backyard garden, and I raise flowers for sale in the local farmer’s market. Gradually, we’re trying to shift to be as self-reliant and sustainable as possible. By steadily making small changes, we’ve made huge improvements. And I want to help you do the same!

So come on in, check out my recipes, how-to’s, and Bible studies for easy and applicable ways to decrease dependence on the “systems” in place and live a simpler, more fulfilling life!
